Back rank: R B N Q · K B N R. The pawn rank mirrors the board while the E-file remains open.
All standard pieces retain their classical movement. En passant is not used. A pawn reaching the final rank must promote to a queen, rook, bishop, or knight chosen by its player.
Checkmate wins. Stalemate, threefold repetition, fifty moves by each side without a pawn move or capture, and insufficient mating material end the game as draws.
Kingside: White F1→H1 with rook I1→G1. Black F8→H8 with rook I8→G8.
Queenside: White F1→C1 with rook A1→D1. Black F8→C8 with rook A8→D8.
